World Cup 2006!

I think the World Cup 2006 craze has just begun here in the office. Someone decided to make a company competition. There's at least 10-15 people whom have joined the office pool, including myself. Unfortunately, there's no prize (at least up till now). Anyways, we'll see how my picks will score over the next month. Thankfully in Macau, I have a choice of television channels to watch the World Cup: TCM (both Chinese and Portuguese channels), CCTV (in Mandarin) or even UBC (in Thai). Oh the thrill of having illegal satellite operators broadcasting TV in Macau. Back in HK, it is only broadcasted on Cable TV (paid TV). Luckily, I subscribe to pay-cable, so I won't miss out on the tournament.

The "Bus Uncle" media has really gone flipped. After the infamous incident on 27 April 2006 on a KMB Bus route no. 68X, the "Bus Uncle" was hired to work in a restaurant in Yaumatei beginning on 5 June 2006. If anyone who has not followed this escapade, go to www.youtube.com and do a search on "bus uncle". You need to find the original version of the video. Anyways, to make things short, apparently, he was beaten up by 3 thugs in the restaurant last night. He had to go to Kwong Wah Hospital for his injuries. According to the restaurant owner, the "Bus Uncle" will not go back to that particular restaurant to work.

The row over the property management at Edificio Hoi Pan Garden has been resolved. The old management company has since been departed. The new management company has moved in, and things look a little promising (to Macau standards). The security guards in the lobby wear uniforms and have since installed a security system to the front door. They have placed placards inside the lift for 24-hour emergency service if it breaks down and affixed warning signs of "no throwing garbage" around the corridors. Hope it will improve the living conditions here and hopefully the owners will pay up the monthly management fees for their efforts.

Yes, no Brazil! Very sad indeed.

Yes, the management company for the flat has improved a bit. They started to hire a pest control company to spray the place! Too bad. I am leaving Macau soon!
